Chris provides the vision and leadership that is shaping the culture of the firm and establishing its reputation as a valued consultant to clients. With more than 20 years of experience in law combined with a wealth of business expertise, Chris' ability to address both legal and corporate strategy makes him a trusted counsel to KFP clients on a broad range of risk management issues.
Legal Expertise
Chris concentrates his practice on professional liability insurance and reinsurance. With extensive, high-level experience as coordinating counsel for a number of insurers and reinsurers, he offers valuable program development and trend analysis skills. Chris assists insurers and reinsurers in their development of professional liability programs, claims, coverage and risk management, and also works with them to draft policies, reinsurance contracts and other risk-transfer vehicles.
Chris' legal career began in the Illinois States Attorney's office, where he worked in the complex civil litigation division. He then joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois' general counsel staff, acquiring expertise in health insurance issues. Chris was counsel to a major director and officers and professional liability insurer prior to founding the Chicago office of a prominent international law firm. While serving as managing partner of this firm, he acted as coordinating counsel for a consortium of insurers and reinsurers faced with the financial institution crisis in the early 1990s.
Education and Achievements
Chris received his J.D. from Chicago's John Marshall Law School in 1981. He completed his undergraduate studies at Fairfield University in Connecticut.
He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the International Association of Defense Counsel and the International Bar Association.
Chris has served as editor for his former firm's Healthcare Liability Desk Book. He also has published articles addressing professional liability insurance with a particular focus on managed care organizations and their liability exposures.
